Easy Two Needle Ankle Sock Knitting Pattern

Simple Pattern - English Rib Ankle Socks
Size: Ladies 8.5 to 11
This easy two needle ankle knit sock pattern is a quick and easy sock knitting pattern with a simple wide knit rib design down to the toe.
Materials:
Sport weight yarn - 4 ozs
1 Pr Knitting Needles size 2
Gauge: 8 sts = 1 inch
Cast on 64 sts. Work in Ribbing as follows:
Row 1: (right side) - P1, *K2, p2; Repeat from * across row, ending with k2, p1
Row 2: k1, *p2, k2; repeat from * across the row, ending p2, k1.
Repeat above 2 rows until ribbing measures 2 in. ending on wrong side row. Work in pattern as follows:
Row 1: p1, *k6, p2; repeat from * across row, ending p1.
Row 2: k1, *p6, k2; repeat from * across row, ending k1.
Repeat above 2 rows until piece measures 4.5 in. in all, ending on wrong side row.
Heel
Row 1: (k1, slip 1) 8 times, k1.
Place remaining 47 sts on stitch holder.
Row 2: slip 1, p 16.
Repeat above 2 rows on 17 heal sts until 28 rows in all have been made, ending with a purl row.
Turn this half of the heel as follows:
Row 1: k1, k2tog, k1, turn, slip 1, p2, turn.
Row 3: k2, k2tog, k1, turn, slip 1, p3, turn.
Row 5: k3, k3tog, k1, turn, slip 1, p4, turn.
Continue working as given above until all sts are worked; there will be 9 sts on the needle, ending with k8, k2tog.
Pick up and knit 14 sts on side of heel. Place the sts from stitch holder to left hand needle and work in pattern across the 30 instep sts.
Place the 53 sts just worked on a stitch holder.
Work back and forth on the remaining 17 heel sts as given for first half of the heel, until 29 rows in all have been made, ending with a slip 1, k1, row. Turn this half of the heel as follows:
Row 1: p1, p2tog, p1, turn, slip 1, k2, turn.
Row 3: p2, p2tog, p1, turn, slip 1, k3, turn.
Row 5: p3, p2tog, p1, turn, slip 1, k4, turn.
Continue working as given above until all sts are worked, there will be 9 sts on the needle, ending with p8, p2tog.
Pick up and purl 14 sts on side of heel. Place the sts from the stitch holder to left hand needle and work across the row keeping the center 30 instep sts in pattern (76 sts)
Instep Shaping
Row 1: K21, k2tog, pattern over 30, slip 1, k1, psso, k21.
Row 2 and all even rows purl, keeping the 30 instep sts in pattern to toe.
Row 3: k20, k2tog, pattern over 30, slip 1, k1, psso, k20.
Row 5: k19, k2tog, pattern over 30, slip 1, k1, psso, k19.
Continue decreasing as given above until 64 sts remain.
Work even until foot measures 2 in. less than desired length measuring from back of heel, ending with a purl row. Decrease for toe as follows:
Row 1: k13, k2tog, k2, slip 1, k1, psso, k26, k2tog, k2, slip 1, k1, psso, k13.
Row 2 and all even rows: purl.
Row 3: k12, k2tog, k2, slip 1, k1, psso, k24, k2tog, k2, slip 1, k1, psso, k12.
Row 5: k11, k2tog, k2, slip 1, k1, psso, k22, k2tog, k2, slip 1, k1, psso, k11.
Continue decreasing as given above until 24 sts remain.
Weave tip of anklet together. Sew back and sole seam. Work other sock to correspond.
