Super Simple Toddler Socks Knitting Pattern

Size 1-2 years and (2-3 years) Instructions are for smaller size A with larger size B in parentheses.

Materials: Size 1-2 years: 1 - Ball Baby Yarn, 4 double pointed needles size 1. Size 2-3 years: 1 - Ball Baby Yarn, 4 double pointed needles size 2.

Gauge: size 1 needles - 17 sts = 2 inches

size 2 needles - 15 sts = 2 inches

Cuff: Cast on 36 sts (12 sts each of 3 needles), join, work ribbing of k1, p1 for 20 rounds.

Leg: k plain until 3.5 ins. from beginning, or to desired length.

Heel: Slip the next 16 sts to 2 needles for instep. On remaining 20 sts work heel.

Row 1: Slip 1, p to end.

Row 2: slip 1, k to end.

Repeat these 2 rows 6 times (14 rows for heel)

Turn heel as follows:

Row 1 and 2: Slip 1, p 11, p2tog, p1, turn, slip 1, k5, slip 1, k, psso, k1, turn.

Row 3 and 4: slip 1, p 6, p2tog, p1, turn, slip 1, k7, slip 1, k1, psso, k1 turn.

Row 5 and 6: slip 1, p 8, p2tog, p1, turn, slip 1, k9, slip 1, k1, psso, k1, turn.

Row 7 and 8: slip 1, p 9, p2tog, turn, slip 1, k 9, slip 1, k1, psso.

There will be 12 sts on heel needle, divide them on 2 needles (6 sts on each needle)

Foot: With the last heel needle, pick up and knit 8 sts on side of heel, k16 instep sts to 1 needle, pick up and knit 8 sts on other side of the heel and to the same needle knit the 6 heel sts, end at center of sole (44 sts).

Knit one round even.

Next round: k to within 3 sts of end of first needle, k2tog, k1, k instep sts, on 3rd needle; k1, slip 1, k1, psso, k to end.

Repeat last 2 rounds 3 times (36 sts).

Knit even until 4 (5) ins., or to desired length from tip of heel, allowing 1 (1.25) ins. for toe.

Toe: Counting from center of sole, place 9 sts on first needle, 18 sts on 2nd needle, and 9 sts on 3 rd needle.

First dec. round: k to within 3 sts of end of first needle, k2tog, k1, on 2nd needle; k1, slip 1, k1, psso, k to within 3 sts of end of needle, k2tog, k1, on 3rd needle; k1, slip 1, k1, psso, k to end.

Knit one round even.

Repeat last 2 rounds until there are 12 sts in round.

K2tog 6 times in succession.

Break off, draw end through remaining 6 sts twice. Fasten off.
